Verlyn Cummings

Verlyn Cummings, age 81, of 18 Orchard Road, Hawkinsville, died Monday, May 22, 2023, at his residence.

Born in Allentown, he was the son of late Tom Allen Cummings and Hettie Lee Cummings.  Verlyn was the manager of the Naval Tracking Station in Hawkinsville before his retirement.  He was also a karate instructor for 13 years.  Verlyn served 26 years in the Georgia National Guard, was a member of the Pulaski County Civil Defense, a volunteer fireman with the Pulaski County Fire Department. and EMT and an EMT instructor.   A Mason and a Shriner, he was a member of Hope Lodge # 9 in Hawkinsville.  Verlyn was a member of Christian Friends Baptist Church in Hawkinsville.

Wife of 62 years:  Joyce W. Cummings of Hawkinsville

Gayle Newman of Hawkinsville
Karen Stokes of Hawkinsville
Teresa Shurley of Hawkinsville

Grandchildren:
Thomas Stokes of Hawkinsville
Brittany Greene of Bonaire
Holly Goss of Hawkinsville
Mary Howard of Hawkinsville

Great Grandchildren:  11

Graveside services will be held at 11 AM Thursday, May 25 in Tippettville Cemetery.  Verlyn's grandson, Thomas Stokes will officiate the service.
