Perry Bridges Obituary

Perry Lee Bridges, age 78, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2020, surrounded by his family and the loving staff of Southwest Christian Care in Union City, Georgia.

The only son of the late Henry Daniel Bridges and Jimmie Lee Brown Bridges, P. L. was born on June 8, 1941 in Dooly County.  He grew up in Dooly County and attended Pinehurst School for 11 years then graduated 12th grade at Unadilla High School.  He loved cars and turning wrenches.  He was known to drag race in his youth and could literally fix anything.  On August 26, 1962, he and his four-year sweetheart, Patsy Gilbert were married at First Baptist Church in Hawkinsville.  They had two daughters, Cindy Bridges Dossett and Sherry Lee Bridges.  P. L. worked diligently to provide the best life possible for his family.  He was always a very loving and devoted father.  When he was not working, he loved to grill and, in retirement, he loved to bake cakes and pies.  He got the chance to raise a son when his grandson, Chris Tyndal was born.  At this time, he lovingly became "Pop" to all his family.  He spent many weekends with him and taught him everything he knew about cars, gardening and hobby livestock and to always strive to be his best in all phases of life by serving God first and allowing His will to follow.  Later, his second grandson, Paul Dossett was born.  He supported Paul in all his sports from peewee league through high school by attending his games and often left work to provide transportation for his family.  He was one of Paul's #1 fans and always gave him his full support and became a role model Paul will always cherish.

P. L. loved his work with Brannen Motor Company and later United Parcel Service, where he retired as a district supervisor after 25 years.  Work always suited him.  He later brought his career full circle as he re-entered the work force doing what he loved, running a shop, helping the community service their vehicles and supervising the mechanics at Brannen Motor Company.  He was a member of Double Branch Free Will Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School and served on the bereavement committee and was always ready to faithfully serve his Lord and Savior.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Patsy; his daughter Cindy Dossett (Terry) of Unadilla; his grandsons, Chris Tyndal (Ashley) of Fayetteville and Paul Dossett of Unadilla; his great grandchildren, McClendon Tyndal, Henry Tyndal and Elliott Tyndal all of Fayetteville.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sherry Leigh Bridges.
