Myra Campbell Obituary

Myra E. Campbell, age 97, of 306 South Sixth Street, Vienna, died Thursday, December 24, 2020, at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta.

Born in Mauk, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Johnnie F. Brooks and Rubye Wall Brooks.  After graduating from Ellaville High School, she attended Georgia Southwestern College in Americus.  For several years, she was a teacher before marrying Thomas W. Campbell on February 16, 1946.

Myra was a life-long member of the United Methodist Church.  Her last church home was Vienna United Methodist church where she taught the Men's Bible Class for years.  She was a lifetime member of the UMW and served as a MYF counselor.

Later, she worked at the Georgia Farm Bureau office where she learned to use a computer.  In addition, her grandsons enjoyed lots of fun days there.

Myra had many hobbies, such as cake decorating and sewing.  She taught herself calligraphy.  Many wedding invitations and name cards were written by her.

She was a loving and supportive mother, to her daughter, Cheryl Campbell Collier and a wonderful grandmother to her grandchildren, Matthew Brooks Barlow and John Shelton Barlow.  She is also survived by her grandson's wives, Sunny and Monique.  In addition, she enjoyed seven great grandchildren, Thomas, Lucas, Helen, Jack, Charlotte, Juniper and Joslyn.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas W. Campbell, her sisters, Melba Lawhorn and Frances Jarrell and her brother, Felton Brooks.

A private graveside service for family only will be held on Friday, January 8, 2021, in Vienna City Cemetery with Rev. Tommy Mason officiating.
