Mary Jo Cruz Obituary

Mary Jo Cruz, age 79, of 6776 Tippettville Road, Vienna, died Sunday, May 1, 2022, at Crisp Regional Hospital in Cordele.

Born in Vienna, she was the daughter of the late Buddy Mixon and Claire Pope Mixon.  Mary Jo worked as a teller at the bank in Unadilla for many years.  When she began her time there, it was known as Citizens Bank, then Flag Bank, RBC and finally, PNC.  In her spare time, she enjoyed fishing, gardening and watching her favorite team, the Atlanta Braves.  More than anything else, she enjoyed watching her grandson, Haddon play baseball.  Mary Jo was the best mom anyone could have.  She was a faithful member of Tippettville Baptist Church.

Survivors include:
Son:  Jerry Cruz (Denise) of Vienna

Daughter:  Terry Collins (Joel) of Plains

Grandson:  Haddon Cruz Collins of Plains

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Louis Cruz and her sister, Johnnie Ruth Mixon.

Graveside services will be held at 11 am Wednesday, May 4 in Vienna City Cemetery.  Rev. Brian Sangster will officiate.

The family will greet friends at the funeral home prior to the service beginning at 9:30 AM.
