Martha A. (Irwin) Bashaw

Martha A. Bashaw, age 87, of Unadilla, died Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at Perry Hospital in Perry.

Born in Unadilla, she was the daughter of the late George Ernest Irwin and Ruby Shugart Irwin and was a 1953 graduate of Unadilla High School.  After graduation, she moved to Atlanta where she completed a long and successful career in civil service at the US Army Forces Command (FORSCOM) at Fort McPherson as a program/budget analyst.  After retirement, she moved back to her roots in Unadilla to be near friends and family.  

Affectionately known to her friends and family as "Teencie," she loved her family and nothing brought more joy to her than seeing her many nieces and nephews, and especially the great nieces and nephews.

She was a member of First Baptist Church of Unadilla, the Swann Sunday School Class and the Northside Senior Citizens Center.  

Survivors include:
Brother:  James Ray Irwin of Unadilla

Several nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald J. Bashaw and her siblings, Ernestine I. Beck, Billy H,. Irwin and Rev. Cecil G. Irwin.

Funeral services will be held at 10 AM Saturday, October 28 in First Baptist Church of Unadilla with interment in Walnut Cemetery.  Dr. Charlie Miller will officiate.

The family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service in the church fellowship hall.
