Larry Bowen

Larry Bowen, age 82, of 415 Borum Street, Unadilla, died Wednesday, August 22, 2018, at Heart of Georgia Hospice in Perry.

Born in Dooly County, he was the son of the late Felton Bowen and Undean P. Bowen. He graduated from Pinehurst High School and furthered his education at Middle Georgia College in Cochran.  He spent the next 20 years serving his country with honor in the United States Air Force.  He was stationed in Japan, Turkey, Thailand and Texas.  Following his military service, he started a business as a retail store owner.  Later, he served 11 years as a Deputy Sheriff in Dooly County.  In retirement, he enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his family that he loved dearly.  Larry was a member of First Baptist Church of Unadilla and the Charles Speight Sunday School Class.

Survivors include:
Wife:  Eddie Lee Bowen of Unadilla

Brother:  Clayton Bowen (Helen) of Rome

Sister-in-law:  Mary Jane Jones (Marvin) of Unadilla

Brothers-in-law:
Ware Peavy of Perry
David Peavy (Elaine) of Unadilla

A host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be at 3 PM Friday, August 24 in First Baptist Church of Unadilla.  Rev. Bruce Howland will officiate and interment with full military honors will follow in Walnut Cemetery.

The family will greet friends 6 - 8 PM Thursday, August 23 at the funeral home and may be contacted the residence of David and Elaine Peavy, 727 Mulberry Street, Unadilla.
