Kenneth David West Obituary

Kenneth David West, age 53, of 1044 Priest Road, Vienna, died Thursday, December 23, 2021, at his residence.

Born in Jacksonville, Florida, David was the son of the late Kenneth Lamar West and Laverne Ann Ratterree West. His grandparents were the late James Ralph Ratterree and Bessie Pitts Ratterree. He was preceded in death by Elizabeth Ratterree Black, James Roy Ratterree, Linda Ratterree Evans, and Dorothy Ratterree Mathews.

He thought that being kind to animals was as important as was being kind to others. David was a shock and awe type personality with the horrible jokes and self deprecating humor. They would make you groan and that was what he wanted. They were so bad! He was a lover of old southern rock music, Andy Griffin, and all of the old television favorites of his youth. David lived a very solitary life and that’s something he chose. After his Mom and Aunt Dot passed, he was lost because those 2 ladies were his life’s purpose for many years. He traveled to North Carolina and north Georgia, working hard manual labor wherever he could, and when he had made peace in his life and had found God, he came back to settle in south Georgia. David had many different health issues, some brought on by hard living. Many thought he was older than his 53 years because of his gray hair and beard but in reality, he was proud to have people say he looked just like his Granddaddy, Ralph!  He is now very happy to be home with his Mom and other relatives that preceded him in death. He believed in the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and he had spoken many times of his forgiveness of others, and of his love for all. He is truly happy and at peace, and that’s something we all can strive for in our lives.

David was a kind and gentle soul and his love for Peanut and Buttercup was such that his final wish was that both dogs be adopted together. That was his number one request should  anything happen to him. He would be very happy to know that came true!

He is survived by his many 1st and 2nd cousins. He leaves good friends, Thomas, Angie, and Trina, plus numerous others, just because he was that kind of guy. He never met a stranger and when he did, they were quickly won over.
