James Alger Joiner, age 74, died Monday, July 25, 2022 at Atrium Health-Navicent in Macon after an extended illness. Jimmy was born January 31, 1948, in Hawkinsville.
A faithful member of Harmony Baptist Church since childhood, he enjoyed letting people know they needed to be there too. He had a constant smile and insisted others wear one also. With his index finger pointing, he would say to you, "you're not smiling."
Jimmy retired from farming. He enjoyed fishing and watching the Atlanta Braves while freely giving advice to the players and coaches alike, especially the pitching staff. His favorite milkshakes came from Carver's Country Store where he was a regular customer. Borum's Service Center in Unadilla is where he enjoyed a variety of sweets and served on the "entertainment committee."
He is survived by his mother, Margaret H. Joiner of 3469 Third District Road, Unadilla; his brother, Neil Joiner (Jane) of 64 Coley Crossing Road, Vienna; his nieces, Erin J. Callaway (Matt) and Carrie J. Bodrey (Clay); his nephew, Seth Joiner; his grand nieces and grand nephew who were close to his heart, Abby, Melanie, Megan and Walt.
His father, George Joiner, preceded him in death.
Graveside services will be held at 10 AM Wednesday, July 27 in Harmony-Smyrna Cemetery with Rev. Mike Peavy and Rev. Mark White officiating.
The family will greet friends after the service.
The family suggests memorial gifts be made to the Georgia Baptist Children's Home, PO Box 329, Palmetto, Georgia 30268-9904 or the Harmony-Smyrna Cemetery Fund, c/o Tammy Cross, 2194 Vienna Highway, Pineview, Georgia 31071.
