Donnie M. Rigdon

Donnie M. Rigdon, age 72, of 118 Everidge Road, Pinehurst, died Tuesday, July 18, 2023 in Unadilla.

Born in Alma, he was the son of the late Lawton Algerie "Jody" Rigdon and LaRue Mims Rigdon and a 1968 graduate of Bacon County High School.  He was a U. S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War and was awarded the Bronze Star.  Following his military service, he attended the University of Georgia where he earned a degree in business.  Donnie had a long and successful career in banking and specialized in agricultural lending.  He was able to help many people in his position.  Following his retirement, he served as Vice-President of Agricultural Lending at Synovus in Americus.  

Donnie's walk with Christ was a centerpiece of his life.  He was a member of Byromville United Methodist Church.  Donnie and Patricia focused a great portion of their married life on their ministry of privately giving to those in need.  They also helped start a local Hispanic ministry.  His faith was actively lived out in his day to day quiet wisdom in the word of God.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing and doing anything related to the family farm.  He loved spending time with his friends and family and always made others laugh with his dry wit.  He also enjoyed riding his cart on the farm and "back porch sitting" with the love of his life, Patricia and their dogs.  Donnie lived out his vows of caring for and loving Patricia with the utmost devotion until the moment our Lord called him home.

He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Patricia Everidge Rigdon of Pinehurst; his step-son, Scott Everidge (Hillary) of Pinehurst; his brother, Billy Ray Mims of Alma; his grandchildren, Brant Everidge and Brody Everidge of Pinehurst; his aunt, Verlene McDonald of Alma; his son, Blake Michael Rigdon of Savannah; many loving cousins.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Benjamin Gregory Rigdon and his nephews, Ryan Mims and Scott Mims.

The family will greet friends 6 - 8 PM Thursday, July 20 at Brannen-NeSmith Funeral Home in Unadilla.

Graveside services will be held at 7 PM Friday, July 21 at Pine Level Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery in Alma under the direction of Crosby Funeral Home, 207 12th Street, Alma, Georgia 31510. (912-632-8623)
