Deborah Oakes, age 70, of 100 Loraine Woods Drive, Macon, died Wednesday, July 21, 2021, at Pine Pointe Hospice in Macon.
Born in Randolph Township, New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late Herbert Covert and Margaret Wright Covert. Deborah worked as a legal secretary for many years. She enjoyed playing golf, fishing, camping and spending time with her family.

Husband: John Bowden Oakes of Bolingbroke
Son: Kristopher Jayden Oakes of Bolingbroke
Sister: Sheri Cox of Easton, PA
Step-Sons: John Oakes and Gene Waring
Step-Daughters: Tami Waring, Joy May and Elizabeth Oakes
Grandsons: Levi Waring and David Waring, Jr.
Step-Grandchildren: several
Nieces/Nephews: several
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Kenneth Waring; her son, David Allen Waring, her granddaughter, Danielle Kaitlin Waring; her brother, Ted Covert; her sister, Barbara Banks.
Graveside services will be held at 11 AM Saturday, July 31 in Pinehurst City Cemetery. Mr. Mike Bowden will officiate.
