Betty C. Baxter, age 90, of Belle Isle, Florida went to her eternal home in Heaven on Friday, September 9, 2022.
Born in Moultrie, Betty was raised in Dooly County and was the was the eldest child of the late Willie Lee Christmas and Ola Mae Tucker Christmas. She attended Berry College in Rome and worked several years for Crocker Plumbing Supply Company in Macon before moving to central Florida with her mother and younger siblings. She worked at the Martin Company in Orlando for three years where she met and married her husband of 57 years, Denmer Baxter. At their home on Flowertree Road in Daetwyler Shores, Betty and Denmer hosted extended visits from time to time by their fathers as well as younger siblings and their children. They moved to their present home on Wind Harbor Road in 1980. There, Betty would be up at 5:00 am to get Barry dressed, walk him to the school bus stop, come home and do her chores, then help with homework after supper before finally getting to bed about midnight. After Denny's retirement in December, 1999, life was more relaxed and stress free until her health began to decline in 2018 and curtailed her activities.
Betty is survived by her husband, Denmer Baxter; her son, Barry Neal Baxter; her siblings, Bobby Laverne Alford (Richard), Patsy Lee Oberholtzer (Richard), willie Lee Christmas and Zeta Mae Christmas; her nieces, Ramona Aroyan (James) and Cheryl Snowden Vincent); her nephews, Dwayne Mills, David Alford, Steven Alford and Mark Alford.
Funeral services will be held at 4 PM Sunday, September 18 the chapel of A Community Funeral Home and Sunset Cremations in Orlando, Florida.
Graveside services will be held at 1 PM Tuesday, September 20 in Lane Cemetery near Vienna.
