Ezekiel E. "Zeke" Peavy, age 80, of 800 Calhoun Road, Vienna, died Monday, January 8, 2024 at his residence.
Born in Vienna, he was the son of the late James William Peavy and Eleanor Tippett Peavy. His career included a number of ventures in which he was highly skilled and successful. As a teen, he completed formal training in automotive mechanics and excelled in that profession for several years. From there, Zeke transitioned into row crop farming before spending close to twenty years in crop dusting, with off-season endeavors in irrigation and swimming pool installations. He also enjoyed working part-time on a NASCAR pit crew for two seasons. Construction grading and operating a trucking business followed before a return to crop dusting and aviation mechanics. When retirement proved unsatisfactory, Zeke returned to farming operations on the land on which he was raised, eventually establishing KBS Sod, which became his final successful endeavor.
A lifelong member of Smyrna Baptist Church, Zeke was a member of the pastorium committee. He also served as a trustee of Lane Cemetery.
