W. C. Griggs, Jr., age 84, of Pinehurst, died Friday, April 22, 2005, at Sumter Regional Hospital in Americus.
Born in Unadilla, he was the son of the late W. C. Griggs and Mary Pennington Griggs. He was a US Army Air Corps veteran of WWII where he served as a navigator on a B-17 bomber and was a POW. Mr. Griggs was the owner of Planters Warehouse, Griggs Gin Co. and Griggs Farms. He served on numerous boards in the cotton industry. He was a member of Pinehurst United Methodist Church and Millwood Masonic Lodge #198 F&AM.

Great Grandchildren: 10
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, April 24 in Pinehurst United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in Walnut Cemetery in Unadilla.
The family will greet friends from 7 - 9 PM Saturday, April 23 at the funeral home.
