Stanley Gambrell

Stanley Gambrell, age 70, of 401 East Woodward Street, Vienna, died Tuesday, October 12, 2010, at Crisp Regional Hospital in Cordele.

Born in Honea Path, South Carolina, he was the son of the late Capers William Gambrell and Lunie Chilton Gambrell. Stanley was a member of First Baptist Church of Vienna and served as Vienna City Manager for 30 years. During his tenure, he was a member of the Dooly County Chamber of Commerce and the founder of the Big Pig Jig. Stanley was also a member of the Vienna Kiwanis Club where he had served as president and lieutenant governor. He had also served as past-president of the Dooly County Little League and the Vienna Booster Club. Stanley was a founding member of the Dirty Dozen Golf Team and was an inductee in the Georgia Municipal Association Hall of Fame.

Funeral services will be at 11 AM Friday, October 15 in Vienna First Baptist Church with interment in Vienna City Cemetery.

The family will greet friends 6 - 8 PM Thursday, October 14 at the funeral home.
