Oscar M. Peavy

February 23, 1948 — July 10, 2020

Oscar M. Peavy, age 72, of 358 Pine Avenue, Pinehurst, died Friday, July 10, 2020, at his residence.

Born in Montezuma, he was the son of the late M. C. "Shorty" Peavy, Jr. and Rosa Lee Bowen Peavy and a lifelong resident of Dooly County.  Oscar graduated from the University of Georgia with a BS in Animal Science.  He spent his life in the field of agriculture and was the owner of Show Stopper Supplies.  He was a member of Pinehurst Baptist Church, the Dooly County Livestock Association and was a member of the Pinehurst Volunteer Fire Department for many years, including 6 as chief.

Survivors include: Wife of 50 years, Jan C. Peavy of Pinehurst

Daughter:  Christy Moore (Scott) of Elko

Son:  Mark Peavy (Ashley) of Pinehurst

Grandchildren:  Ali Moore, Abby Moore, Alaini Moore, Kailee Kivett and Nathaniel Mac Peavy

A graveside memorial service will be held at 3 PM Sunday, July 12 in Pinehurst City Cemetery.  Rev. Freddy Hogg will officiate.  The service will be live-streamed on the funeral home Facebook page.  Friends are reminded to social distance at the service.

A drive-thru visitation will be held 6 - 8 PM Saturday, July 11 at the Peavy residence, 358 Pine Avenue, Pinehurst.  Please enter the property from Cypress Avenue and exit onto Highway 41.  To maintain social distancing, please remain in your vehicle. You will be able to register, receive a memorial folder and speak to the family.

Memorial gifts may be made to the Learning Center or the FFA at Fullington Academy, PO Box B, Pinehurst, Georgia 31070.
