Opal M. Eiford, age 84, of 5416 Highway 41 North, Vienna, died Wednesday, February 22, 2006, at Crisp Regional Hospital in Cordele.
Born in Carlisle, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Adrian McElfresh and Mamie McCarty McElfresh. She taught school for many years and had been previously honored as Dooly County Teacher of the Year. She also received the Ruth Roach Memorial Award for Lifetime Achievement from her alma mater, Midway College. This award was the first of its kind given by the school. Mrs. Eiford was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church and was preceded in death by a son, John Eiford.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, February 25 in Vienna United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in Vienna City Cemetery.
The family will greet friends from 7 - 9 PM Friday, February 24 at the funeral home.
