Nancy C. Shipman, age 82, of New Braunfels, Texas, died December 2, 2024 at Christus Santa Rosa Hospital in New Braunfels.
Nancy was born on August 8, 1942 in Akron, Ohio, the daughter of James W. Casey and Alice T. Casey and the younger sister of James W. Casey Jr. She graduated from Valdosta State College in 1963 with a degree in Elementary Education and loved the years she spent in the classroom, teaching and nurturing young children. In 1963, she married Vienna native Marcus B. Shipman and together they raised three children and traveled the world in support of Marcus’ Air Force career.
Nancy will be remembered as someone who was kind and respectful to everyone she met. She volunteered in many capacities at Air Force bases in Nebraska, Greece, and Spain as well as at each church her family attended, always bringing smiles to those she served. She was endlessly proud of her children and grandchildren and never tired of listening to their stories and learning about their accomplishments.
Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Marcus Shipman in 2021 and their first son, Marcus B. Shipman Jr. in 1965.
She will be deeply missed by her children Cyndi Ross, Amy (Raven) Agape, and Mark (Melody) Shipman and by her grandchildren Skylar, Sydney, Owen, Ethan, Grace, and Zachary.
Graveside services will be held at 1 PM Friday, March 7, 2025, in the Vienna City Cemetery with Rev. Larry Wilbanks officiating.
