Margaret "Mug" Speight, age 78, of 298 Azalea Drive, Unadilla, died Saturday, March 21, 2009, at The Oaks Nursing Home in Marshallville.
Born in Hawkinsville, she was the daughter of the late David Franklin Jones, Sr. and Alma Ward Jones. She was a member of Unadilla United Methodist Church and the Martha Beulah Sunday School Class. Mrs. Speight was a graduate of Hawkinsville High School, Middle Georgia College and The University of Georgia. She taught at Mamie Broslyn Elementary School in Albany after completing her degree. For many years, she owned and operated The Hat Shoppe in Hawkinsville and was the bookkeeper for Unadilla Wholesale Company. She was an avid sports fan and a loyal supporter of Fullington Academy athletics. Mug was a wonderful mother and grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Speight, and by her brother, Franklin Jones.
Funeral services will be held at 4 PM Sunday, March 22 in Unadilla United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in Walnut Cemetery.
