Michael "Eric" Eckersen

Michael "Eric" Eckersen, age 39, of 509 Old Americus Road, Vienna, died Thursday, December 1, 2022, in Jacksonville, Florida.

Eric was born in Vienna on January 22, 1983.  He attended Dooly County High School and was an avid baseball player and fan.  He later became a carpenter in the construction business.  Eric was a loving son, brother, father and uncle.  He enjoyed fishing and supporting his favorite team, the Florida Gators.  He was preceded in death by his father, Michael Eckersen, his paternal grandparents, Malcolm and Virginia Eckersen and his maternal grandparents, W. C. and Becky Butler.

Survivors include: Daughter:  Shianne Thayer of Cordele

Mother:  Barbara Butler of Vienna

Sister:  Gwen Eckersen of Buena Vista

Nephew:  Braydon Beavers

Nieces:  Courtney Daniel and Breann Beavers

Great Nieces:  Braelyn Daniel and Georgia Daniel

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Friday, December 9 in the chapel of Brannen-NeSmith Funeral Home of Vienna with interment in Vienna City Cemetery.
