Martha J. "Nita" Shelton, age 80, of 480 Tri-County Road, Vienna, died Wednesday, August 31, 2011, at her residence.
Born in Colquitt County, she was the daughter of the late Byron W. and Martha Boyd Croft. She was a homemaker and a member of Tippettville Baptist Church, where she was the church organist.
Survivors include:
Son: Joel W. Smith (Evelyn) of Guyton
Daughter-in-law: Ilona Smith of Warner Robins
Step Sons:
Michael Shelton of Vienna
Joey Wausserman (Cheryl) of Christmas, FL
Jerry Bodie of Vienna
Step Daughter: Carol Carrier of Winter Garden, FL
Sisters:
Merle Byrum of Vienna
Connie Davis of Moultrie
Brother: Zed Croft (Dorothy) of St. Cloud, FL
Grandchildren: 10
Great Grandchildren: 9
She was preceded in death by her husband, R. J. Shelton and her son, H. Garrison Smith.
Funeral services will be at 3 PM Sunday, September 4 in Tippettville Baptist Church with interment in Tippettville Cemetery.
The family will greet friends 6 - 8 PM Friday, September 2 at the funeral home.
Memorial gifts may be made to the Georgia Baptist Children's Home. Donations should be mailed to Tippettville Baptist Church, c/o Geneva Johnson, 421 Pinecrest Drive, Vienna, Georgia 31092.
