Major H. Brannen, Sr., age 71, of Montezuma, died Wednesday, May 31, 2005, in a Macon hospital.
Born in Dooly County, he was the son of the late Wilbur Brannen and Lillian McCormick Brannen. He was a member of Smyrna Independent Methodist Church, a Mason and a US Air Force veteran. Mr. Brannen was a farmer, a cotton ginner and warehouseman and a district supervisor for the Georgia State Soil and Water Conservation Commission. In 1999, he was named Soil and Water Conservationist of the Year. He was an avid deer hunter, a member of QDMA and pioneered white tail deer management in Macon County. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and knew many people across Georgia through his numerous activities in the fields of agriculture and conservation.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Friday, June 3 in First Baptist Church of Unadilla with burial following in Walnut Cemetery.
The family will greet friends from 6 - 8 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
