Lucille Sangster Fountain, age 94, of Byromville, died Tuesday, January 6, 2009, at Fairview Park Hospital in Dublin.
Born in Dooly County, she was the daughter of the late Charlie Walter Sangster and Georgia Louella Warren Sangster. She was the oldest member of Byromville United Methodist Church, a member of the Annie Mae Shirah Circle, the Loyal Sunday School Class and the UMW, where she had served as Treasurer. Mrs. Fountain had worked as director of an orphanage in Jacksonville, Florida, ran the lunch counter at W. T. Grants in Lakeland, Florida and also worked in the knitting mill in Montezuma. She was a devoted wife to her husband of 36 years, G. W. Fountain, who died in 1981.
She is survived by her daughters, Barbara Jean Rhyne (Willie) of McDonough and Joyce Dent (Joel) of Dublin; two half-sisters, Lillian Entwhistle and Ernestine "Teen" Sangster, both of Blairsville; grandchildren, Robert W. Womack (Julie) of Covington, Salena Lynn Turner (Brian) of Stockbridge, Michael Dent (Jenny) of Rome; great grandchildren, Tyler Michael Woods, Austin Bailey Woods and Jared Michael Dent.
Funeral services will be at 3:00 PM Friday, January 9 in Byromville United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in Swearingen Cemetery.
The family will greet friends 1 - 2:30 PM Friday in the church fellowship hall.
