Laverne J. (Jones) Bowden

Laverne J. Bowden, age 85, of 449 Oak Avenue, Pinehurst, died Sunday, April 5, 2020, at her residence.

Born in Doerun, she was the daughter of the late James Thomas Jones and Lucy Mae Weathers Jones.  She had worked in quality control at Lanier Industries and was a longtime member of Pinehurst United Methodist Church.  Laverne loved quilting, cooking, flowers and listening to gospel music but her greatest love was her family and the time she spent with them.

Survivors include: Daughter:  Anne Davis (Terry) of Perry

Sons: Mike Bowden (Angie) of Unadilla Russ Bowden (Gay) of Unadilla

Brother:  Bob Jones (Shirley) of Garrisonville, VA

Grandchildren:  6

Great Grandchildren:  16

She is also survived by her beloved dog, P. J.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold M. Bowden, her son, Harold M. "Hal" Bowden,  Jr., her grandson, Terrell Reid Davis and her siblings, Grady Hayward Jones and Katharine Thigpen.

A graveside service for the immediate family only will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, April 8 in Pinehurst City Cemetery with Rev. Gary Boyles officiating.

The service will be live-streamed on the funeral home Facebook page.
