Laura R. Royal, age 42, of 2996 Mt. Vernon Road, Vienna, died Saturday, February 3, 2007, at her residence.
Laura was born on Mother's Day, May 10, 1964, in Columbus. She was a 1982 graduate of Americus High School and attended Georgia Southwestern State University, South Georgia Technical College and Columbus State University. She was the Administrative Assistant to the Warden of Dooly State Prison until her health declined.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, February 6 in Vienna First Baptist Church. Rev. Matt Stephens and Dr. John Smith will officiate and interment will follow in Mt. Vernon Cemetery.
The family will greet friends from 6 - 8PM Monday, February 5 at the funeral home.
Laura had been the south Georgia representative for "Family Voices" and had worked to obtain services for medically fragile children. The family requests that memorial gifts in Laura's name be sent to Family Voices, Inc., 2340 Alamo SE Suite 102, Albuquerque, NM 87106. Memorial gifts may also be made to Vienna First Baptist Church, PO Box 351 Vienna, GA 31092 or United Hospice, 708 East 16th Avenue, Cordele, GA 31015.
