John Hunter

John Hunter, age 79, of 12875 Highway 230 West, Unadilla, died Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at his residence.

Born in Buffalo, New York, he was the son of the late Lewis Hunter and Gertrude Gattie Hunter.  He served his country with honor in the United States Army then worked for AT&T and later retired from Robins Air Force Base.  John had a dry sense of humor and was also a very active person.  He played adult league soccer for many years and also earned a black belt in martial arts.  He attended St. Teresa's Catholic Church in Cordele.

Survivors include: Daughter:  Helen Hunter of Fort Valley

Sisters: Teran Mellon of Pompano Beach, FL Louise Skierczynski of Buffalo, NY

Grandchildren:  Kierstin Sturn and Cameron Hunter

Great Grandchildren:  Ariana Sturn and Braylen Barker

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carla Clewis Hunter and his brother, Michael Hunter.

Graveside services will be held at 2 PM Tuesday, December 5 in Snow Cemetery.

Visitation will be 6 - 8 PM Monday, December 4 at the funeral home.

A Rosary will be said at 7:30 PM Monday, December 4 at the funeral home.
