John S. Akin, Sr., age 88, died Monday, December 25, 2006, at his residence in Pembroke Pines, Florida.
Born in Mitchellville, Tennessee, he was the son of the late R. C. Akin and Oma Louise Shannon Akin. He was a member of Vienna First Baptist Church, the Caleb Sunday School Class and retired from Seaboard Railroad.

Wife: Mary K. Akin of Pembroke Pines, FL
Sons: Shannon Akin (Grace) of Vienna
Reuben Akin (Faye) of Vienna
Grandchildren: 4
Great Grandchildren: 7
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, December 29 in Vienna First Baptist Church. Rev. Matt Stephens and Rev. Tommy Mason will officiate and interment will follow in Vienna City Cemetery.
The family will greet friends from 6 - 8 PM Thursday, December 28 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church, PO Box 351 Vienna, GA 31092.
