James Ray Irwin

James Ray Irwin, age 90, of 3810 Collins Road, Unadilla, died Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at his residence.

Born in Unadilla, he was the son of the late George Ernest Irwin and Ruby Shugart Irwin.  He was a United States Air Force veteran and retired from Robins Air Force Base.  James Ray was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Unadilla until his health declined.  He was a Deacon and a member of the Charles Speight Sunday School Class.  He was also active in his community. He served on the Planning and Zoning Committee, the Downtown Development Authority and was a member of the Unadilla Lions Club.

Survivors include: Sons: Jim Irwin of Cordele Dan Irwin of Unadilla

Grandchildren: Conner Irwin Jerrett Culpepper (Nick) Jantzen Irwin

Great Grandchild:  Montgomery Culpepper

He was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda H. Irwin.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Friday, October 11 in First Baptist Church of Unadilla.   Rev. Mark Grinsted will officiate and interment will be in Walnut Cemetery.

The family is not gathering at the residence but invites you to visit with them in the church fellowship hall beginning one hour prior to the service.

The family suggests memorial gifts be made to First Baptist Church, 911 Cherry Street, Unadilla, Georgia 31091.
