James O. Cross, Jr., age 89, of 780 Brown's Chapel Road, Unadilla, died Monday, August 1, 2016, at the Medical Center-Navicent Health in Macon.
Born in Dooly County, he was the son of the late James O. Cross and Gertrude Nelson Cross. He served his country with honor in the United States Army during World War II. Junior was a farmer all his adult life and though he retired from actively farming in 1993, he was still a farmer and enjoyed riding in his golf cart around the fields "inspecting" the crops.
Junior was an active member of First Baptist Church of Unadilla where he served as a Deacon and on various committees throughout the years. He was a member of the Speight Sunday School Class and served as a Gideon in the Cordele Gideon Camp for many years. He also served as president of the Houston Associational Brotherhood. He was a member of the Unadilla Lions Club, the Northside Senior Citizens Center and the Coffee Club.

He was preceded in death by his grandson, Justin James
Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Thursday, August 4 in First Baptist Church of Unadilla. The family will greet friends following the service in the church fellowship hall. After the visitation, an interment service for family only will be held in Walnut Cemetery.
