Jady Smith

Jady Smith, age 75, of 573 Pine Avenue, Pinehurst, died Thursday, November 29, 2007, at his residence.
Born in Dooly County, he was the son of the late John Sid Smith and Janie Laree Smith. He was US Army veteran of the Korean War, a member of Pinehurst United Methodist Church, a Mason and a member of Millwood Masonic Lodge. For 18 years, he worked as a Depot Agent with Central Georgia Railroad and spent another 32 years as the Farm Bureau Agent for Dooly County. During those 32 years, he was a one time Georgia Farm Bureau agent of the year and agent of the month several times. He also enjoyed working as a Faircracker at the Georgia National Fair in Perry. Jady loved everyone and his positive outlook and warm smile will be missed by those who loved him. He was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather and was affectionately known as "Pooch" to his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Ellen P. Smith of Pinehurst; children, Marty Smith (Pam) of Dublin and Robin Edwards of Cordele; siblings, Lamar Smith and Jean Kent of Pinehurst; 3 grandchildren, Joellyn Smith of Dublin, Christopher Smith of Dublin and Cole Edwards of Cordele.
Funeral services will be held at 3:30 PM Sunday, December 2 in Pinehurst Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Walnut Cemetery.
The family will greet friends from 5 - 7 PM Saturday, December 1 at the funeral home.
