Jack A. Powers

October 29, 1926 — June 23, 2006

Jack A. Powers, age 79, of 404 North Sixth Street, Vienna, died Friday, June 23, 2006, at his residence.

Born in Dooly County, he was the son of the late Noah Powers and Felton Fraser Powers. He was a US Navy veteran of WWII and a member of Vienna United Methodist Church. Mr. Powers was a former Vienna City Councilman, a Mason and a member of the Bagdad Club. He had also worked at the Vienna News and started Dooly County's first radio station, WWWN.

Son: Jeffry Powers (Deidre) of Bolingbroke

Brothers: Harold Powers of Athens
Sam A. Powers, Sr. of Cordele
Doyle Powers of Macon
Marvin Powers of Cordele
Ed Powers of Macon

Grandchildren: Jeffry Powers, Jr.
Eboni Powers

His sister, Helen Herndon, preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, July 1 in Vienna United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Cordele.

The family will greet friends from 7 - 9 PM Friday, June 30.

The family requests that donations in Jack's memory be made to Vienna UMC, 313 Church Street, Vienna, GA 31092.

Brannen-NeSmith Funeral Home of Vienna has charge of arrangements.
