J. T. Thompson

J. T. Thompson of Unadilla died Saturday, January 14, 2005, in a local hospital.

Born in Dooly County, he was the son of the late Jessie L. Thompson and Maggie Goodroe Thompson. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Unadilla for many years and served faithfully in numerous positions. He was a Deacon, Sunday School and Training Union Superintendant, taught the Junior Sunday School Class, was chairman of the House and Grounds Committee and worked with the Royal Ambassadors. Mr. Thompson retired from Robins Air Force Base where he was a Hydraulic Group Leader and also drove a school bus for the Dooly County Schools for 16 years. He was a devoted husband and a loving father.

Survivors include:
Wife: Jeanette Layfield Thompson of Unadilla

Daughter: Jan Hamrick (Wyndel, Jr.) of Vienna

Sons: Ray Thompson (Jean) of Unadilla
David Thompson (Mary Ann) of Columbia, SC

Sister: Jeanette Peavy of Vienna

Brother: Bernard Thompson of Unadilla

Grandchildren: Johnathan Hamrick, Ansley Thompson, Karli Thompson, Jana Hamrick and Brie Thompson

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Monday, January 16 in First Baptist Church of Unadilla. Interment will follow in Walnut Cemetery.
