J. C. Smith, Jr

J. C. Smith, Jr., age 73, of 209 North Sixth Street, Vienna, died Sunday, January 4, 2004, in a Macon hospital.

Born in Claxton, he was the son of the late James Calvin Smith and Ruth Calder Smith. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Vienna, a US Air Force veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars and was preceded in death by his son, James Calvin Smith, III. He was an agricultural consultant with River West in Lilly.

Sons: Jeff Smith of Cordele
John Smith of Cordele

Daughter: Joy Collins of Vienna

Step Children: Derek Nelson of Newnan
Paul Nelson of Warner Robins
Kathy Foshee of Cordele

Sister: Betty Burgdorf of Adel

Grandchildren: 5
Step Grandchildren: 2

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Wednesday, January 7 in First Baptist Church of Vienna. Revs. Jamey Hunt and Cham White will officiate and burial will follow in Vienna City Cemetery.

The family will greet friends from 6 - 8 PM Tuesday, January 6 at the funeral home.
