Herbert Allen, age 93, of Vienna, died Friday, July 4, 2008, at Magnolia Manor in Americus.
Born in Dooly County, he was the son of the late Lee F. Allen and Ethel Turner Allen. He served his country with honor in the US Army Cavalry. Mr. Allen worked as a Policeman in Vienna and retired from the Sanitation Department in Perry. He was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Vienna where he was a Deacon and a member of the Caleb Sunday School Class and the Brotherhood.
He is survived by his wife, Brunell M. Allen of Vienna; a daughter, Patsy DeLoach of Macon; a son, Gene Allen of Americus; two sisters, Betty Ruth Evans of Albany and Willie J. Causey of Cleveland, OH; 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 4:00 PM Saturday, July 5 in the chapel of Brannen-NeSmith Funeral Home of Vienna with interment following in Vienna City Cemetery.
The family will greet friends from 2 - 3:30 PM Saturday at the funeral home.
