Harold G. Cason, age 96, of Milton, Florida, died Wednesday, November 5, 2014, at Santa Rosa Medical Center in Milton, Florida.
Born in Vienna, he was the son of the late Henry Gordy Cason and Katie Lee Coppedge Cason. Mr. Cason had resided in Vienna and Moline, Illinois before moving to Milton 3 years ago where he was watched over by his granddaughter, Teresa L. Morrell. Because of her, he was able to enjoy many happy hours with his great grandchildren and two of his great great grandchildren and various special occasions.
He was a US Army veteran of World War II and was one of the "greatest generation" who landed on Omaha Beach on D-Day + 1. He was very proud of his service and has been remembered at the veterans memorial in Milton, Florida.
After his military service, he was a truck driver, retiring from Rock Island Motor Transit in 1978. He was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church and was active in many volunteer duties.
