Goober Godfrey

Roger L. "Goober" Godfrey, age 62, of 5845 Highway 230 East, Unadilla, died Thursday, February 23, 2023, at his residence.

Born in Cordele, he was the son of the late Garland Godfrey and Eva Doc Bush Godfrey.  Goober was a painter and when he wasn't working, he loved fishing and watching his favorite team, the Georgia Bulldogs.  Above all, Goober was a devoted husband and father who cherished the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Survivors include: Wife:  Lori Broome Godfrey of Unadilla

Sons: Lynn Godfrey, Jr. (Jessica) of Perry Ryan Godfrey (Melissa) of Unadilla

Sisters: Bobbie Andrea of Staten Island, NY Frankie Godfrey of Unadilla Judy Moore of Perry Dawn Kaczmarek (David) of Milan, MI

Brothers: Wayne Godfrey (Kay) of Kathleen Mickey Godfrey of Unadilla

Grandchildren:  Billy Howard, Liam Godfrey, Cooper Godfrey, Chase Bryant, Carson Godfrey, Ayden Godfrey, Garlan Godfrey and Grayson Godfrey

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Dean Godfrey and Terry Godfrey and his father and mother-in-law, Carroll and Lauretta Broome.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Monday, February 27 in the chapel of Brannen-NeSmith Funeral Home.  Rev. Tim Ferguson will officiate and interment will be in Walnut Cemetery.

The family will greet friends 2 - 4 PM Sunday, February 26 at the funeral home.
