Geraldine "Jerry" Ellis Morris, age 91, of Vienna, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at Summerhill Nursing Center in Perry.
Born on December 7, 1933 in Vienna, she was the daughter of the late George Marvin Ellis and Irene Taylor Ellis. Jerry was a school teacher for over 40 years and served 37 of those years as a first grade teacher at Fullington Academy. She was well known for her delicious coconut and caramel cakes. She also enjoyed gardening and helping on the farm. Above all, Jerry thoroughly enjoyed the time she spent with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a member of Vienna First Baptist Church and the Vivian Bonner Sunday School Class.
She is survived by her daughters, Marvelyn Smith of Pinehurst, Kathy McCray (Steve) of Vienna and Leigh Thomas (Mack) of Hahira; her brothers, Bobby Ellis (Connie) of Vienna and Randy Ellis (Gail) of Cordele; her grandchildren, Jeri Lynn Wilson (Jason) and their children, Joseph and Allison of Atlanta, Tripp Smith and his girlfriend, Banyan Botkin of Jacksonville, FL, Ash Dupree (Jordan) of Woodstock and their children, Alaina and Zach, Steven McCray of Fort Polk, LA, Rachel Buchanan (Jay) (and their precious baby arriving in May of 2026) of Chattanooga, TN and Taylor Thomas and her fiancee, Shawn Carnahan of Valdosta; many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Frank Morris; her brother, Marvin Elliott Ellis; her son-in-law, Augustus Wayne "Chip" Smith, Jr.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Saturday, November 1 at Vienna First Baptist Church. Rev. Brian Leverett will officiate and interment will follow in Vienna City Cemetery.
The family will greet friends 12:30 - 2:00 PM Saturday, November 1 in Providence Hall of Vienna First Baptist Church.
