Gene Holder

Ernest Eugene Holder, Jr. age 82, of 688 Lewis Mill Lake Road, Vienna, died Monday, March 20, 2023, at his residence.

Born in Eastman, he was the son of the late Ernest Eugene Holder and Lorene Thompson Holder.  Gene was a 1958 graduate of Dodge County High School where he played baseball and basketball.  He worked as a meat cutter for many years at various grocery stores such as Wal-Mart, Winn Dixie and Giant Foods.  When he wasn't working, he enjoyed gardening and supporting his favorite team, the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.  Above all, Gene was a Christian and a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather.  He was a member of Vienna First Baptist Church.

Survivors include: Wife:  Barbara K. Holder of Vienna

Sons: Tony Holder of Jeffersonville Kyle Holder (Tabitha) of Haynesville

Daughter:  Kimberly Holder Smith (Eddie Wilson) of Perry

Grandchildren:  Jake, Becky, Ashley, Kaylee, Kyle, II, Hunter Daniel, Hunter Mason, Terra and Lane

Great Grandchildren:  10

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Wednesday, March 22 in Vienna First Baptist Church.  Interment will be at 4 PM Wednesday, March 22 at Gresston Congregational Holiness Church Cemetery in Dodge County.

The family will greet friends 12:30 - 2 PM Wednesday, March 22 in Providence Hall of Vienna First Baptist Church.
