Gay F. Akins, age 67, of 184 Campers Haven Road, Vienna, died Monday, November 6, 2006, at Crisp Regional Hospital.
Born in Jefferson County, Florida, she was the daughter of the late James Franklin Faircloth and Leola Cruce Faircloth. She was a graduate of Florida State University and taught school in Florida and Georgia for 36 years, specializing in special education. Gay was a member of First Baptist Church of Vienna, the Alathean Sunday School Class and had served as president of the Dooly County Teachers Association.

Grandchildren: Sarah Parker, Chase Fore, Katie Parker, Brian Parker and Dean White
Her sister, Mary Jo O'Steen, preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Wednesday, November 8 in First Baptist Church of Vienna. Rev. Matt Stephens and Rev. Billy Forrest will officiate and burial will follow in Tippettville Cemetery.
The family will greet friends from 6 - 8 PM Tuesday, November 7 at the funeral home.
