Fred D. Causey, age 65, of 500 North Third Street, Vienna, died Thursday, December 25, 2014, at Crisp Regional Hospital in Cordele.
A lifelong resident of Vienna, Fred was born on December 1, 1949. He was the son of the late J. R. Causey and Delia Bonner Causey. He was a 1967 graduate of Vienna High School and attended college at Georgia Southwestern University where he earned a Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Elementary Education.
He retired from the Dooly County Board of Education after over 39 years, most of which he worked as the media specialist for the Dooly County Elementary and Middle Schools. He was a long-time member of the Dooly County Library Board and a founder of the Dooly Little Theatre and Dooly County Arts Alliance. He was also a member of the Doolalian Society and a volunteer with the Big Pig Jig.
Affectionately known as the Wizard of Vienna, Mr. Causey was most well known for his vast collection of Oz memorabilia as well as collectibles from Gone With the Wind, Tarzan, Harry Potter, I Love Lucy and more. He also opened his home and his collections to the public at his annual Christmas in Oz event held in December.

He is also survived by a number of cousins including John Causey (Lady) of Vienna and Jan Peavy (Oscar) of Pinehurst and three very special friends known to him as the "3 Divas," Ann Stripling, Mary Ann Davis and Madie Harvard.
He also leaves behind a number of close friends known as his "adopted kids" as well as his 4-legged companions; cats - Teddy Bear and Little Junior and his chihuahua, Butch.
A memorial service will be held at 2 PM Saturday, January 3 in the chapel of Brannen-NeSmith Funeral Home of Vienna.
The family will greet friends 11 AM - 12 noon, Saturday, January 3 at the funeral home.
