Frances G. Morgan

Frances Morgan, age 70, of 677 Pleasant Valley Road, Vienna, died Tuesday, September 19, 2006, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany.

Born in Hazlehurst, she was the daughter of the late Edward Guerry and Christine Tittle Guerry, graduated from Vienna High School and Young Harris College. She also attended Georgia Southern University and Georgia Southwestern State University. She was a longtime member of Vienna United Methodist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher and served on numerous boards and councils. She served as president of the local UMW twice, was an officer in the district UMW and was a lay speaker. Mrs. Morgan was also active in many civic activities. She served 2 terms on the Dooly County Board of Education, was president of the PTA and volunteered with 4-H. She also held several offices in the local UDC and was active in the Young Harris Alumni Association. In addition to serving as Red Cross Blood Drive Chairperson, she donated the maximum amount of blood over her lifetime. Mrs. Morgan was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and enjoyed needlework, sewing, reading and genealogy.

Brother: Lee Guerry (Merilyn) of Cordele

Sister: Martha McDonald of Cordele

Grandchildren: 4

Funeral services will be at 4:00 PM Friday in Vienna United Methodist Church with interment in Vienna City Cemetery.
