Essie Brown

Essie Brown, age 100, of 301 North Fifth Street, Vienna, died Wednesday, September 10, 2003, at her residence.

"Fat Mama" as she was affectionately called, was born on February 22, 1903 in Dooly County to Daussie Blanchard and Ora Adams Blanchard. She was a member of Mars Hill Baptist Church, where she served as church pianist for 78 years. She was a homemaker, the widow of Jess Brown and was preceded in death by her daughter, Kathryn Daniels. She was devoted to her family and loved cooking for them and taking care of them.

Grandchildren: Barbara Foshee of Cordele
Mary Kathryn Smith of Vienna
Nancy Daniels of Vienna

Great Grandchildren: 5
Great Great Grandchildren: 4

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Friday, September 12 at Mars Hill Baptist Church. Rev. Brent Duncan and Rev. Cham White will officiate and burial will follow in the church cemetery.
