Earl Peavy, age 83, of 1270 Drayton Loop, Vienna, died Thursday, February 27, 2014, at Pine Pointe Hospice in Macon.
Born in Vienna, he was the son of the late Leonard Peavy and Maggie Lou Brown Peavy. Earl was born into a farm family and remained in farming until he joined the US Army in 1950. Following his military service, he returned to Vienna where he owned the Standard Oil Service Station and Star Gas. Earl retired from Georgia Pacific Particle Board. He was a member and Deacon of Mars Hill Baptist Church but attended Riverview Baptist Church. His wife, Joyce Campbell Peavy, preceded him in death.
He is survived by his sons, Jack Peavy (Linda) of Warner Robins and Ronnie Peavy; his sister, Wynelle McCrary of Evergreen, AL; his grandchildren, Brandon Peavy of Timberville, VA and Emily Peavy of Byron; a great grandchild, Ashton Saunders of Timberville, VA.
He is also survived by his beloved dog, Pete.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, March 2 in Mars Hill Baptist Church with interment in the church cemetery.
The family will greet friends 6 - 8 PM Saturday, March 1 at the funeral home.
