Betty Groves Trammell of Duluth, formerly of Cairo, died Saturday, September 5, 2015.
Betty was born in Byromville to the late William and Lucile Groves. Mrs. Trammell was married to Norwood H. Trammell for 32 years. She was devoted to her family and adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mrs. Trammell was a homemaker and very involved mother for most of her adult life. She also worked for a time at Lorenzo's a ladies specialty shop in Cairo, where she enjoyed business and helped in sales and purchasing at market in Atlanta. Betty was a member of First Baptist Church of Cairo where she was a Sunday School teacher, Bible School teacher and active member of the Ladies Circle. In Cairo, she was also very involved in her children's schools as a volunteer and was a member of the Woman's Club, the Garden Club and an ardent volunteer for the heart and cancer drives. This "can do" lady was particularly interested in groups which benefited children. The consummate Southern Lady, "Miss Betty" gave generously and quietly of herself. She was humble, kind and loving. Her going to be with the Lord, leaves those of us left behind with a great loss in our lives. Her last words to her daughters were "I love you, my dear." She loved deeply and with great abandon. Mrs. Trammell moved to the Atlanta area 27 years ago to be near her daughter, Cynthia and her grandchildren, Molly and Robb. She spent the last few years at the Parc in Duluth where she leaves many dear friends. Much appreciation goes to the ladies who loved and cared for her; Kimberly Gray, Sherrie Dickie, Helen Gadmosie and Liz Nahendakari.
