Betty S. (Speight) Maples

Betty S. Maples, age 93, of Pinehurst, died Saturday, March 30, 2024, at Summerhill Nursing Center in Perry.

Born in Pinehurst, she was the daughter of the late Bascom B. Speight and Artie Lynch Speight.  She retired from Middle Georgia EMC and had also worked at the post office in Pinehurst.  She was a faithful member of Pinehurst Baptist Church and also served as church treasurer.  Betty was a strong-willed woman who raised 6 children on her own, a hard worker who provided for her family and above all, a faithful servant of her Lord.

Survivors include: Sons: Tommy Maples (Joanne) of Danbury, CT Kirby Maples (Denise) of Macon Michael Maples (Nan) of Acworth

Daughters: Marcia Moore (Johnny) of Unadilla Ann Carter (Thad) of Cordele

Daughter-in-law:  Nancy Cedillo (Vic) of Houston, TX

Sister:  Joyce Edwards of Fishkill, NY

Grandchildren:  12 Great Grandchildren:  11

Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Rudy Maples and her siblings, Harold Speight and Mary S. McKinley.

Funeral services will be held at 3 pm Wednesday, April 3 in Pinehurst Baptist Church with interment in Harmony-Smyrna Cemetery.

The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service in the fellowship hall of Pinehurst Baptist Church.
