Barbara Hancock

Barbara Hancock, age 72, of 7230 Highway 41, Vienna, died Thursday, July 2, 2026, at Cordele Health & Rehab.

Born in Dawson, she was the daughter of the late Robert Taft and Ila Greene Taft.  Barbara graduated from Auburn University with a degree in biology.  She had worked as a cashier at Piggly Wiggly in Vienna for many years.  Barbara loved going to the beach, supporting her beloved Auburn Tigers and spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Johnson (Chris), their children, Austin Johnson (Mickensie) and their child, Ronan Johnson and Ethan Johnson (Alexis) and their child, Oakley Johnson; her daughter-in-law, Amanda Hancock of Jacksonville, NC and her children, Amber Hancock, Xander Hancock, Asher Hancock, Harper Hancock and Piper Hancock.

She was preceded in death by her son, Chris Hancock.

She is also survived by her dog, Sugar.

No service will be held, but friends are invited to visit with the family on Friday, July 3 all day until 7 pm at the residence of Jennifer Johnson, 819 East 20th Avenue, Cordele.
