Allen "Gube" Payne, age 87, of 716 Lewis Street, Montezuma, died Friday, December 26, 2008, at Flint River Community Hospital.
Born in Pike County, he was the son of the late Joe Presley Payne and Dossie Underwood Payne. He was a US Army veteran of WWII, a member of Still Water Chapel and a retired Welder.
He is survived by his brother, Robert Lee Payne of Oglethorpe and a sister, Florrie Jean Crook of Marshallville.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lorene Peaster Payne, 3 sisters and 5 brothers.
Graveside services will be held at 11 AM Monday, December 29 in Bertha Dozier Memorial Park in Montezuma.
Memorial gifts may be made to Still Water Chapel, 3550 State Route 240, Ideal, Georgia 31041.
