John Alan Smith, age 55, of 701 East 27th Avenue, Cordele, died Tuesday, January 1, 2019, at his residence.
John was born in Tachikawa, Japan to Joyce Walters Smith and the late J. C. Smith. He attended the University of Georgia and worked for 25 years for Musgrove Construction as a lineman and was considered by his peers as one of the best. John was an avid history buff and enjoyed researching his family genealogy. He enjoyed watching all sports, especially his favorite teams, the Georgia Bulldogs, the Atlanta Braves and the Atlanta Falcons. John will be remembered mostly for his sweet smile, giving nature and thoughtfulness. His brother, Jim Smith, preceded him in death.

Memorial services will be at 2 PM Thursday, January 3 in the chapel of Brannen-NeSmith Funeral Home of Vienna.
The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service.
