Welcome to the memorial page for

Jane H. (Hall) Mason

August 23, 1920 ~ February 19, 2017 (age 96) 96 Years Old

Mrs. Jane Hall Mason, 96, of Vienna passed away Sunday, February 19, 2017 in Crisp Regional Hospital following a brief illness.

A native of Sylvester, Mrs. Mason was the daughter of the late Jesse Denny Hall and Ruth Melton Hall and the wife of the late F. Thomas Mason Sr. She had lived in Vienna almost 70 years and was owner and operator of Jane Mason Income Tax and Bookkeeping Service for nearly 50 years.

Mrs. Mason was a member of Vienna United Methodist Church where she was organist and pianist for many years. She also was active in United Methodist Women and taught the Fellowship Sunday School Class over 50 years. It recently has been renamed in her honor, the Jane Mason Sunday School Class.

She served in many leadership positions in the church, including chairman of the parsonage committee and memorial fund.

Mrs. Mason was very involved in Vienna’s music and garden clubs as well as other civic activities of Vienna and Dooly County throughout her life. She also was fun-loving, and friends gathered to play bridge in her home several times a month until she became ill.

She loved the outdoors and particularly her roses. She was quite generous with those roses, preparing many arrangements for sick and shut-in friends as well as many special occasions. She also mowed her own lawn until she was well into her 90’s.

Mrs. Mason’s musical talent was well-known throughout the community, and in addition to regular church services, she played for numerous weddings and funerals. She was truly devoted to her family and friends.

Surviving her are her son, the Rev. F. Thomas Mason Jr. and his wife Karen; two granddaughters, Allison M. Curington and her husband Chip of Tuscaloosa, AL and Joan M. Akin and her husband Shan of Vienna; and four great grandchildren, Patten and Mason Curington of Tuscaloosa and Kathryn and Caroline Akin of Vienna.

Funeral services are planned for Tuesday, February 21 at 11 a.m. in Vienna United Methodist Church. Interment will precede the service at Vienna City Cemetery at 10:30 a.m.

Family members will visit with friends at Mrs. Mason’s home, 5745 Hwy. 41 N., Vienna.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Vienna United Methodist Church, 205 North Sixth Street, Vienna 31092 or Dooly Campground, P. O. Box 7, Vienna 31092.
