J. C. Pope, age 73, of 404 East Pine Street, Vienna, died Saturday, January 14, 2017, at his residence.

Born in Houston County, he was the son of the late Clifford Leon Pope and Eunice Inez Pettett Pope.  He worked as a meat cutter at Harvey's for 18 years and later retired from Piggly Wiggly in Vienna.  J. C. enjoyed playing his guitar, singing country and gospel music and watching westerns on television.  He was preceded in death by his step-father, John Etheridge,  his siblings, Ann P. Cox, Jimmy Virgil Etheridge and Eddie Jackson Etheridge and his nephew, Michael Cox.

Survivors include:
Wife:  Sandra Pope of Vienna

Daughter:  Eve Pope of Vienna

Son:  James Clifford "Jay" Pope, Jr. of Vienna

Grandchildren:
Erin Bailey Martin (Hal) of Rochelle
Elorie Bailey of Rochelle
Olivia Pope Castillo (Alberto) of Vienna
Jordan Pope (Jake) of Vienna

Great Grandchildren:
Madison Martin of Rochelle
Avery Castillo of Vienna

Nephews: 
Mitchell Cox of Vienna
Eddie Etheridge of North Carolina

Nieces:
Michelle Cox Smith of Cordele
Gina Etheridge Martin of Cordele

Great Niece:  Shelby Cox of Vienna

Sister-in-law:  Wanda Etheridge of Cordele

He is also survived by his beloved dogs, Izzie, Chloe, Daisy and Milo.

Funeral services will be at 11 AM Tuesday, January 17 in Vienna Church of God.  Interment will be in Seville Cemetery.

The family will greet friends 6 - 8 PM Monday, January 16 at the funeral home.
